Valencia teacher is No. 1 in state                                 

Cindy Pharis Valencia High School wins Teacher of the year.

On Thursday, Pharis was honored as the Teacher of the Year for California and will be considered this month for the top national honor.

Pharis was among 197 nominees for the award - one that came with a $10,000 check for her school.
