‘The focus is on truckers and lake visitors, not on local residents’

This was a recent blog comment from the Post “Lollies, Castaic – closing” I’ve taken this particular post comment into consideration and want to expand on it.
Looks like it will be a multi part post:

Is the focus on truckers? The Castaic Community Standards at the department of regional planning. Castaic Road between Parker and the area north of Lake Hughes Road it is outlined as ‘Trucking District’ and in fact in the written portion says “ The CSD promotes the establishment of trucking related businesses where trucking related activities presently occur – while ensuring that trucking related businesses do not interfere with the communities residential character, circulation and traffic patterns.”
Playing devils advocate for a minute - the trucking district is Castaic - it was here long before any of us were and I don’t think it’s going away any time soon or even relocated for that matter.

My own personal issue to the CSD being ‘trucking not to interfere with circulation and traffic patterns’ – way back when - during times for ‘operation snowflake’ the California Highway Patrol would close Interstate 5 at Templin Highway - Castaic residents never knew the highway was closed as the influx of vehicles and trucks wasn’t pouring out of the 2 highway exits we have. Word has it that several businesses complained the dollars they were losing out on - a car or truck parked at Templin can’t run in for  taco or a burger now can they? Since that point in time the CHP diverts traffic off at Parker Road creating chaos, noise and huge traffic jams for area residents.
- Could we change this?  probably. Would it make life better for residents? Yes.
- Be proactive, if you have concerns, make your voice heard! Go to the Town Council meetings.
- The power of one becomes stronger when we join together.
